2013-14 Scholarship Award Winners
On Friday, May 3, 2013, there were five very happy families at Saint Patrick Interparish School. Five students – who will all be in sixth grade next year – received news they had been selected as the very FIRST to receive scholarships from the “Clint Lacinak Scholarship Fund.” In front of the entire student body and faculty of the school, the students were called forward by name, along with their parents. Each of the five students was awarded a One Thousand Dollar ($1,000.00) scholarship. The beaming students and proud parents were presented with a large ceremonial check for $1,000.00 and a red baseball cap similar to the one in the Fund’s logo. The students and parents were not notified before the ceremony, but instead learned the good news with everyone else, during the formal announcement. In a surprise move, the Fund awarded more scholarships than were originally planned. When the Fund announced the opportunity to apply for these scholarships, it anticipated making awards to only three students. Dave Lacinak commented: “We were surprised by the amazing outpouring of support and generosity from the community. Since we raised more than we anticipated, it only made sense to adjust our plans and provide even more scholarships to these great kids at this great school.”
As long as these students remain enrolled in St. Pat’s and maintain acceptable academic performance, conduct and leadership, the Fund has made clear its intent is to renew and award continuing tuition scholarships each academic year for these same students’ seventh and eighth grade years. This makes the potential long-term value of these awards as much as Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) per student / family.
